A Quinte West man has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm after a three year old ingested a significant quantity of cannabis edibles.

According to the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. last Friday at a residence on Fish and Game Club Road, about 12 km north of Trenton.

Following a 911 call, the youngster was transported to hospital in life-threatening but stable condition. An investigation followed, and the 38-year-old man was charged.

The man was released on an undertaking, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 18.
